SUNDAY, March 4
TNC's Scout Road Preserve
9:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M.
(and into the afternoon for anyone interested)
We'll be burning brush piles at the 'Scout Road Preserve'. Wear outer garments (avoid synthetics) that you won't mind getting burn holes in. Bring work gloves and eye protection (glasses).
Over the last few work parties this winter, we've been clearing woody invasives from the savannas/woodlands in the northwest portion of the preserve. The cleared area will benefit not only our more common woodland and savanna plant species but also one of the state-threatened plant species, Kitten Tails.
What to Wear:
Wear outer garments (avoid synthetics) that you won't mind getting burn holes
in. Bring work gloves. Eye protection is recommended (e.g. glasses or a chainsaw
helmet with face shield if you have one).
Parking:
As there is no parking along
Town of Troy public roads during from November - late March, we'll be parking at
a private residence that borders the north edge of the preserve. The
adjacent landowners, Jim & Barb, have been removing invasive species from their
property for the past few years.
IF there is adequate room, a couple vehicles may be able to park adjacent to the
series of mailbox along Timber Lake Road.
Please note the meeting/parking location below is for this particular work party
date only.
Please meet by 9:00 A.M. as we will be walking to the TNC site
(northwest portion of the preserve).
